PROJECT 1

Learning Objectives
1. To have an overview of the formation of cities and introduce basic concepts of urban design in relation to architectural design
2. To introduce and implement basic methodologies of urban studies.
3. To investigate the role of community libraries in traditional and contemporary urban societies.
4. To examine various examples of architectural responses for urban infills.
Learning Outcomes
- Within the group, i analyzed the site character and identified the conditions of the urban streetscape and urban behavioral patterns.
- I was able to analyze studies to gain understanding of architectural response for urban infill sites and for spatial programming to inform the design project
- I was able to produce necessary documentation (diagrams, mappings, orthograhic drawings, and models) to record and communicate the site analysis findings.
Final Project
Learning Objectives
1. To take into consideration key aspects of urban design and context in relation to architecture 2. To develop an awareness and basic compliance to Design Codes and Statutory Requirements
3. To emphasize the importance of elevational context and composition in developing architectural design
4. To implement and explore the conceptual, schematic and design development phases in an architectural design project
Learning Outcomes
- I was able to demonstrate the fundamental knowledge of design codes and regulations
- I was able to explore plan - section, and elevational studies to resolve relevant aesthetic, construction and environmental issues.
- I produced a design outcome that encompasses the site specific architectural response through formal, cultural, environmental solutions for urban issues
- I learnt how to produce 2d and 3d architectural diagrams in order to verbally and visually communicate architectural ideas and issues
