Asian Architecture
A brief look into the subject Asian Architecture
What i learned from this subject:
To start with, i learned how to carry out an in depth research based on my selected buillding (Salinger House) within the framework of contextual architecture. I was also able to identify the significant elements of contextual architecture through the investigation on my selected building. Apart from this, this subject greatly improved my writing and presentation skills as i was required to write a paper of approximately 2,000 words and present a power point presentation of 10 minutes containing the key issues of the building and the themes explored. In a nutshell, apart from learning i also learned about some of my weaknesses which could be improved, in terms desigining the layouts for the boards and presentation skills.
Contextual Architecture Study
For this part of the project, i was required to choose a building in Asia and further investigate through observations and readings on contemporary architecture practices and issues in Asia. Based on the selected building i also conducted literature review on its vernacular architecture reference attributes such as culture, tradition etc.
Submission of topic and issue
Using the selected building, i was assigned to generate a good research title that clearly reflects the research intention and scope of study within the framework of contextual architecture. This project also required me to create a concept mapping to highlight the specific topic/issues/significance of study and scope of study. Also, the concept map is also required to have research questions based on the title, to give an overview of the proposed case study paper.
Paper Presentation
Based on the title generated, i was then assigned to gather all the data and present it as a paper presentation to my respective tutor. The paper presentation includes the basic idea behind the title, as well as relevant information and diagrams about the title i chose.
Abstract Submission
The abstract submission required me to clearly demonstrate the topic and issue, the objectives of the study, and the literature review. Also, i was required to indicate my case studies, findings, as well as other discussions.
Final Paper Submission
Based on the our literature review and the research title, the final submission required me to write a paper with the correct APA referencing and citations.
