A brief look into the subject design studio 3
Project 1 - Journey of the 5 senses
This project required us to explore poetics and spatial typologies through design exercises. As a group of 5 students we were assigned to design 2 schemes for a memorial themed 'Journey of the 5 senses.
This project also required us to carry a precedent study analysing spatial poetics and spatial typologies. We were given a choice of songs whereby two were chosen. The chosen songs were then further interpreted and then shown through architectural language.
What i learned from this project:
I was able to identify different spatial types in architecture and carry out case studies to inform the design project. Furthermore, this project gave me an initial idea on how to create tectonic expressions of different spatial typologies which impact the users. In addition this, improved my ability to produce drawings (2d and 3d) based on my design with considerations of human scale, section plan relationship, materiality, light and textures.
Project 2 - Site Analysis and Concept development
For this project, i was assigned to carry out a site analysis on Bukit Cina and produce a video of about 5 to 10 minutes in a group of 5 students. The second part of this assignment was to produce a design concept based on my interpretation of the macro site.

What i learned from this project:
This project help me to carry out a macro site analysis on Sungai Lembing where i learned how to document certain climatic factors and produce my personal interpretation and 'genius loci' of the place. I also learned how to come up with a concept for the visitor interpretative center based on the site analysis and conclusions.
Project 3 - Visitor Interpretive Center
Based on the the interpretation of Bukit Cina, we were assigned to further develop the concept from project 2 and design a Visitor interpretive center for Bukit Cina emphasing strong relationship with the site, spatial experiences and programmatic requirements
What i learned from this project:
I was able to design based on the character and the condition of the site and was also able to generate design through the section-plan relationshp with considerations of materiality, light and human scale. In addition, i was able to design a small scale community building with responses to the site and user experience. As a whole, this project also helped to further develop my ability to produce 3d and 2d drawings, and helped in my verbal presentations as well.
