Project 1 - Research Timeline Analaysis
This project allowed us to undertake research analysis process on Islamic architecture practices throughout history through literature review and document analysis and present an appropriate chronology account of Islamic architecture based on the understanding gained through the analysis procedure.
We also given a task to analyze a mosque focusing on the 6 unifying principle and 1 diversifying principle of Islamic architecture.
Learning Outcomes

I was able to analyze and discuss the relationship of the principles of Islamic architecture (ie. The seven Unifying and one Diversifying Principles) and the Islamic religious dogmas of faith with social, cultural, environmental and intellectual context of Islamic architecture throughout prominent Islamic periods

I learnt how to differentiate the way in which many varied factors contribute to the development of Islamic architecture and urbanism.

produce, illustratively, orally and in text, a critical chronology analysis interpretation of Islamic architecture and urbanism in relation to the fundamental of Islamic principles within the historical discourse of Islamic architecture.

Project 2 - Islamic Architecture Buildings
Through literature studies we were assigned to conduct literature review (in the form of analysis sketches and Write-up) on the Islamic philosophy, principles, teachings and values of a mosque design development aspects. By examine at least 5 latest related research papers literature reviews were conducted based on the research topic of “Architecture and Sufism”. Providing answers to the questions of “What?” “Who?” “Where?” “When?, Why?” and “How?”. In this project I also explained and compared similarities or differences of the definition, theories, principles, philosophies, research method, and issues discussed in the papers
Learning Outcomes
- I was able to explain the spiritual and religious aspects of Islamic architecture
- I understood the sense of places through patrons’ spiritual experience of Islamic architecture.
- Describe the understanding of architectural language of the Islamic architectural development
- Create on-line data account of the literature study and analysis of Islamic architecture
