A brief look into Measured Drawing.
Project 1: Sketchbook and journal
For project 1, i was assigned to create a sketchbook with 10 sketches of our given site, Istana Bandar. The sketches should comprising of such qualities.
- Genius loci
- Cultural attributes
- Poetic quality
- Construction details
What i gained and learned from the project
- I was able to understand the basic architectural historic culture
- I was also able to capture the tangible and intangible essence that is contained within the architecture realm
- I was able improve and further develop my sketching skills and learned new hatching techneques.
Project 2: Measrued drawing
For project 2, our group was assigned to come up with, 2 sets of A1 drawings and 2 sets of A3 sized drawings of our site, comprising the following
- Key plan
- Location plan
- Site plan
- Floor plan
- Elevation
- Section
- Site sections
- Exploded axnonometric
- Physical model
I was responsible for the documentation of door schedule, door defects, and the detailing of the door.
What i gained and learned from the subject
- Learning the appropriate method of architectural, hisotric documentation
- Recognizing different techniques used in measured drawing
- Explaining more about the building construction, architectural details and elements
- Interpreting historic architectural element, structure and building
- Learning fieldword exercises and measurement exercises
- Traslating measured drawing into scaled drawings
- Learning how to use computer applications and apply it into measured drawings.
Project 3: Report and video
For this project, we were to come up with a report, including all the scaled drawings and more additional information about our site, Istana bandar. It covers topics such as , the style of architecture used in the building, hisotry, and the elements of architecture used in the building. I was responsible for doing the elements of architecture such as, doors, windows, roof, roof lantern, courtyard, and pond
What i learned and gained from this project
- Understanding the application of architectural historic documents
- Describing architectural cultural heritage.
- Elaborating the relatioship between architecture and the significance of the building as well as its inhabitation.
